The scientific name of the White Shark is Carcharodon carcharias, which translates to, "Sharp-toothed Shark". Carcha- is Latin for "Sharp" while -don is latin for "tooth" (think OrthoDONtist). "Carcharias" is one of many words for "Shark" (another popular word is "Squalus").
